I know I have been trying to find things real cheap, but some things are worth paying full price...
Home Depot sells steel light switch plates at around $5-6 dollars. You can find other outlet styles and anodized colors (blue, red) on Ebay. Lowes has a similar product, however I prefer the pattern sold at Home Depot.
It looks great in the garage; tough and practical too. Plastic switch plates also easily get smudged up with dirt and grease - they also break!
